Paper Flowers

So my husband Danny is in the process of remodeling our New York apartment, and I’ve been trying to think of ways to decorate and put my personal touch on it so it has a home away from home feeling. Typically one of my tried and true ways to make a house feel cheery is lots of fresh flowers and plants… however since our primary residence is in California, having fresh flowers and plants survive in our NY apartment without someone there all of the time is probably slim to none. So I had this idea to start making crepe paper flowers to decorate the apartment with, still cheery and no need to water!

I first started by finding a how-to video on YouTube, then I kept finding other videos on other types of paper flowers and basically couldn’t stop! It’s pretty much my newest obsession, to say the least. Now I’m making them for all of the rooms in my California house as well. I really love how they make a room feel instantly happy and sunny, even when its cold and rainy outside, its sort of the perfect winter craft.

Here are just a “few” of the paper flowers I have been making, enjoy!

Lisa & Michael's Wedding

I finally have a chance to share some of the beautiful photos from my daughter Lisa’s wedding at our home in August. It was such an overwhelmingly amazing day, its fun to look through these and reminisce on the love and happiness we all felt.

LA Weekend

We have family that live in LA, including our son, so it’s always the perfect excuse to take a quick weekend trip to visit. Usually our trips consist of shopping and eating, and this trip was no different. We spent the day wandering around Platform checking out the beautiful shops, creative spaces and of course that hip mural on the parking garage. I really wanted to go into the Boba Guys, but as you can see below, the line was crazy long. I guess everyone had the same idea as me. Although if you are looking for a bit more than boba tea, the restaurant Hayden is a great place to grab a glass of wine and some oysters.

We also spent some time walking around Abbot Kinney in Venice. I saw the coolest pink car parked on the street and had to take a picture of course. Lots of interesting places we came across including Roosterfish, a hip dive bar, a really cool coffee food truck and this incredible nest chair I saw in this store… who wouldn’t want to take a nap in that!

I also came across this incredible outdoor tented yoga studio, I would love to have one of those in the bay. Some other fun sights include …this really amazing wallpaper that looked like a Moroccan doorway; these adorable dogs just hanging out on the counter in a shop we went into; and these gorgeous large vases like the one I have at home.

I love discovering new things whenever we visit LA. Feel free to comment below and share some of you favorite spots, I’d love to know!

next time you’re in LA make sure to visit:
